I am finally emptying my last few boxes from a house move at the beginning of August. It’s amazing how long things take with twins! One of my discoveries is a pack of ’52 Relaxing Rituals’ cards given to me in a secret Santa years ago. I don’t think I’d ever opened the pack until today and there are some great suggestions in there. The guidelines advise that you pick one at random and do it whilst commuting, during a coffee break or at the end of your day. The first card I picked said the following:
“You don’t have to be Pavarotti or a virtuoso to sing or play a musical instrument. Drumming a rhythm on a bongo can be an especially good release. You can even make music by blowing into bottles or banging pans. Don’t let the fact your teacher asked you to mouth the words keep you from trying again. Singing and making music just feel good”.
How did the pack of cards know I used to mouth words and pretend to sing? I’m in though as it sounds like a great idea. I even think I have some bongos somewhere. The card reminded me of this month’s Lightning Process newsletter and the wonderful short film I have recently discovered. Have you signed up to the newsletter yet? It’s free and available to anyone and you can sign up here https://lightningprocess.co.uk. The images and music are to the words of British philosopher Alan Watts and made by David Lindberg and I’ve watched it four times already. Watch it, I think it’s beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHnIJeE3LAI and maybe get out those pots and pans and sing a bit tonight!
Love and happy bongoing,
Kate, Phil, Helen and Jacqui
