Studies on the Lightning Process for Long Covid Treatment

Research into the Lightning Process (LP), a brain-mind-body intervention, has begun to explore its potential benefits for helping those with Long Covid. To date, three case studies provide initial evidence suggesting that the Lightning Process may help improve both physical and mental well-being in individuals with Long Covid.

There are currently three peer-reviewed papers on the Lightning Process and Long Covid. These include an audit and three case studies that examine the potential benefits of the Lightning Process (LP), a brain-mind-body intervention, for helping those with Long Covid.  All three papers suggest that Lightning Process may be a promising intervention for Long Covid, highlighting its potential to improve physical health in individuals suffering from this condition.

The LP intervention involves:

  • Listening in your own time to a 4-hour audio programme focused on research and tools of the brain-mind-body connection and neuroplasticity.
  • Attending three 4-hour interactive online seminars focused on teaching the Lightning Process techniques, including self-coaching, self-kindness, savouring (the re-accessing of memories designed to improve health) and visualisation.
  • Receiving three hours of post-seminar support.

 The audit 1

The most recent study, from 2025, evaluated the LP for Long COVID and found all participants made significant improvements, with over 90% of participants reported being 85% back to normal or more, and concludes:
‘The Lightning Process is a promising and safe intervention for symptoms of long COVID. Primary care clinicians can refer patients for treatment with a high chance of benefit without fear of harm.’

Case Study 1 and 2 2

This study followed two women (aged 60 and 52) diagnosed with Long Covid who received the LP intervention.

Researchers measured outcomes using standardised scales and patient self-reporting. Both participants experienced:

  • Sustained improvements in fatigue levels
  • Increases in mental wellbeing scores
  • Improvements in a range of physical and emotional symptoms including fatigue, shortness of breath, headaches, body aches, sleep disturbances and impaired concentration.

Study 3 3

This case study focused on a 53-year-old woman with severe Long Covid symptoms, including brain fog, extreme fatigue, breathlessness, and shakiness.

The patient reported significant and rapid improvements in her symptoms within days of starting the Lightning Process intervention. These included:

  • Improved physical function, enabling her to resume biking, exercising and driving.
  • Enhanced mental clarity and wellbeing, including the disappearance of brain fog and a restored sense of confidence in her cognitive abilities.
  • Sustained improvements, with continued engagement in her daily activities and use of LPAs to manage stress and other challenges.

Conclusions

In conclusion, these studies present preliminary evidence suggesting that brain-mind-body interventions, particularly the Lightning Process, might have positive effects on Long Covid symptoms. However, more rigorous research is needed to establish their effectiveness definitively.
