This year with the pandemic, the potential for getting a holiday has disappeared for many.

Whilst there is the potential to get a change of scenery, there are still restrictions on what we can do.  The rules are also constantly changing about what we can and can’t do.

Many of us are in need of a re-charge so how about creating the holiday feeling at home?

Try these suggestions and sprinkle August with mini-holiday experiences.

Think about the different elements of a holiday that you really enjoy:  What things do you find most relaxing?  What are the things that inspire you?  What do you love most about taking a break?

You may come up with big things on this list that aren’t simple to change.  Instead, focus on the elements that you could incorporate into your life, to create that holiday feeling.

Here are 5 ideas to get you started:

Read a book

Pick a novel where you can lose yourself in the story. If you’re like me, the only time I read stories is when I’m on holiday so it’s a great way to bring that holiday feeling back.

Eat alfresco, or go for a picnic

OK, you may not always have the weather on your side but you could make use of any nice days, and enjoy the experience of eating outside.

Do a home spa treatment

Why limit these to holidays?  Treat yourself to some luxury treatments and lotions and turn your bathroom into a sanctuary.  Spoil yourself with candles, music, magazines and a glass of prosecco if that’s what you like.

Go exploring

If you are anything like me, you still have loads of places left locally to explore.  Make a list and start checking them out – you’ll be amazed at the number of places you’ll discover right on your doorstep.

Get creative

Allow yourself the time and space to be creative whether it’s sketching or doing a new craft you’ve always fancied trying.

Find some time this week to do something that is holiday inspired and get into the holiday spirit.

“A holiday is an opportunity to journey within. It is also a chance to chill, to relax. It is when I switch on my rest mode.” Prabhas
